Follow these three simple steps to transition out of swaddling with confidence:

One arm at a time: Begin by unzipping one wing to gently introduce arms-free sleep while maintaining a familiar feeling of comfort and security.
Both arms free: Once your baby has settled into the new routine, unzip the second wing to allow more freedom of movement. It’s normal for this stage to take a few nights to adjust.
Move on from swaddling: When your baby is comfortable sleeping with arms and legs free, transition to a swaddle-free routine by moving into a sleep bag.

When To Stop Swaddling

If your baby is showing one or more of these signs, then it’s time to transition to “arms-free” sleeping. Babies will generally begin to show these signs between 2–6 months of age.
