What makes the Swaddle Up™ different?

Swaddle Up™
A traditional or Velcro swaddle
Hands up, by their face

Babies naturally raise their hands to their face. This is the swaddle designed to let them sleep that way.

Calms the startle reflex

A snug, secure fit so a startle does not turn into a wake-up.

They cannot wiggle out

No breaking out, no Houdini arms at 2am.

Quiet two-way zip, no Velcro

Diaper changes at 3am without waking the whole house.

On in seconds, no folding technique

Zip it up. Nothing to learn while you are exhausted.

Room to move at the hips

A roomy leg pouch supports natural hip positioning.

The questions we get most

Is arms-up swaddling safer than a traditional swaddle?
Both are working towards the same thing: a settled baby and no loose blankets in the crib. The Swaddle Up zips closed, so there is nothing to work its way loose over your baby's face, and it keeps their arms up near their face where they naturally want them. Follow safer sleep guidance either way: always place your baby on their back, and stop swaddling once they show signs of rolling.
What size should I get for a newborn?
Sizes go by weight rather than age. Newborn covers 2.2 to 3.8 kg, Small covers 3.5 to 6 kg and Medium covers 6 to 8.5 kg. If your baby sits between two sizes, size up. A little room beats a snug fit they outgrow in two weeks.
Is 1.0 TOG right for my nursery?
1.0 TOG is the all-rounder and the one most parents start with. It suits a room around 20 to 24°C with a short-sleeve bodysuit underneath. If your nursery runs warmer, look at 0.2 TOG. If it runs cold, look at 2.5 TOG. Our dressing guide walks you through it in about twenty seconds.
What is it made of, and is it breathable?
The 1.0 TOG is a soft, breathable cotton, chosen to feel gentle against new skin and to keep your baby comfortable through the night rather than trapping heat.
When do we stop swaddling, and what comes next?
As soon as your baby shows signs of rolling. That is what the Swaddle Up Transition Bag is for: zip off one wing at a time so the change happens gradually rather than overnight, and it converts into a sleep bag once both wings are off.
What if it does not work for us?
Send it back. Change-of-mind returns are easy, and you can check the window and how it works on our returns page, so you are not stuck with it if your baby turns out to prefer something else.
