Designed for baby's

natural sleeping position

  • Legs bend up and out
The roomy leg pouch lets hips and knees settle into the position babies fall into naturally.
  • Arms up, just like the womb
A snug fit through the arms calms the startle reflex without tightening anything below the waist.
  • No wrapping technique to learn
Zip it up and the fit is the same every night, whoever puts it on.

How it compares to a wrapped blanket

Swaddle Up™
A traditional or Velcro swaddle
Room to move at the hips

A roomy leg pouch supports natural hip positioning rather than holding legs straight.

Snug arms without tight legs

The containment happens up top, where the startle reflex is, not around the hips.

The same fit every night

A wrap is only as good as the technique. A zip-up swaddle is a consistent fit, every nap and nighttime.

Hands up, by their face

Babies naturally raise their hands to their face. This is the swaddle designed to let them sleep that way.

Quiet two-way zip, no Velcro

Diaper changes at 3am without disrupting the peace.

The questions we get most

Why does leg position matter for a newborn?
Hips are still developing in the early months, and they do that best when legs are free to bend up and out. The position to avoid is legs held straight and pressed together, which is why a swaddle that leaves room at the hips matters more than how tightly it is wrapped.
How is the Swaddle Up shaped at the hips?
The lower half is a roomy leg pouch rather than a fitted wrap, so your baby can bend, kick and draw their knees up while their arms stay snug. Nothing pulls the legs straight.
My baby is in a hip harness or brace. Can they wear this one?
No. The standard Swaddle Up is not made to fit over a harness or brace. We have a separate range cut wider for exactly that, so have a look at the hip harness swaddles and follow whatever your healthcare provider has advised.
How snug should the fit be?
Snug through the arms and torso, roomy at the legs. You should be able to fit one to two fingers in the neck hole, and the neck hole must not be able to pass up over your baby's mouth. Choose your size by weight rather than age or height, and check the size guide if you are between two.
Which TOG should I start with?
1.0 TOG is the all-rounder most parents start with, suiting a room around 20 to 24°C with a short-sleeve bodysuit underneath. Warmer nursery, look at 0.2 TOG. Colder, look at 2.5 TOG. Our TOG guide walks you through it in about twenty seconds.
When do we stop swaddling, and what comes next?
As soon as your baby shows signs of rolling. That is what the Swaddle Up Transition Bag is for: zip off one wing at a time so the change happens gradually, and it converts into a sleep bag once both wings are off.
